Talking about Multiple Chemical Sensitivity

Introduction
Multiple Chemical Sensitivity is a disease similar to an allergic reaction. It usually starts slowly with seldom episodes of pain, and after 2-3 years it can become everyday pain and reactions to more than one substance. A sufferer could be affected by a couple of chemicals and odours, which could be non-dangerous, however it is believed (not proved) that one of the chemical could have (in the past) really put the body at risk and that this triggered the body to be pro-active when sensing this substance again. In other words, there might be a real biological issue with the body with respect to one substance, and the adverse reactions to other non-dangerous substance are just putting more pain, confusion among relatives and professionals trying to study sufferers.

Scientific Investigations
As far as I know, there is one study that refuted biological causes of TILT showing that sufferers where not suffering anymore if there was a strong inocuous odour used to mask other odours (citation needed). Also, sufferers were not able to reliably respond to the "dangerous" chemical and were responding to placebos (citation needed). Until we know where it comes from, we cannot be sure of anything.

Biological Clues to look for
* Does digestion affects symptoms -> Yes: it could be a liver-related problem.
Try to not eat for 24 hours. After 8 hours, digestion should be finished and you could begin to see an improvment when in contact with the normally-offending substance(s).
* Do you have photosensitivity? Are you more prone to sun burns than normal, have dry skin and maybe acne -> Yes: It could be a mycoplasma1.
Unfortunately this is hard to completely cure. Improvement is possible.
* Other related factors. MSC seems to happen more frequently in people who have ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder), allergies in their familly.

What I'm Trying to do to Help
If you think you are beginning to have MSC, I suggest you try to find as soon as possible if you are in contact with a significant source of contaminant. If you live in Quebec and I can provide the following tests:
* Test your car for Carbon Monoxide (CO in ppm) leeking inside the cabin
* Test your workplace for sufficient ventilation (CO2 in ppm).
* (soon) Test your house for the level of Radon gaz present.
